Embracing Innovation: Launch of Our New Website

As Managing Director of the Livestock Development Corporation, I am pleased to announce the launch of our newly redesigned website. This platform represents a significant step forward in our commitment to transparency, efficiency, and stakeholder engagement within the livestock sector.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Prime Minister, James Marape, and his government for their unwavering support and vision for the livestock sector. Under his leadership, we are witnessing a renewed focus on agricultural development, and the Livestock Development Corporation is proud to be part of this journey.

I also extend my appreciation to our Minister for Livestock, Mr. Segie Agisa, MP, for his tireless advocacy and guidance. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the future of our industry, and we are grateful for his unwavering support.

Our website will serve as a vital resource for farmers, researchers, and industry stakeholders, providing valuable information on our initiatives, services, and projects. We aim to promote sustainable livestock practices, improve breed quality, and enhance market opportunities, contributing to food security, economic growth, and rural development.

I commend the efforts of our team members who have worked diligently to make this launch possible. As we move forward, we remain committed to our mandate and look forward to engaging with you through our website.

Our strategic vision centers on fostering sustainable and productive livestock development across the nation through

  1. Building National Livestock Development Programs by increasing Cattle herds
  2. Rehabilitations and reclaiming of abandoned Farms and Building of New Abattoirs
  3. Establishment of animal feeding stations throughout the LDC centers

This website serves as a critical tool in achieving that vision. It will provide comprehensive information regarding our initiatives, programs, and regulations readily accessible to farmers, investors, researchers, and the public. Furthermore, the site will facilitate streamlined communication and collaboration, empowering stakeholders to participate more effectively in the growth of the industry.

We believe this digital platform will enhance our ability to disseminate crucial knowledge, promote best practices, and ultimately, contribute to a thriving and resilient livestock sector. We encourage all stakeholders to explore the website and utilize its resources. It is our hope that this innovation will serve as a catalyst for positive impacts and contribute to the continued advancement of livestock development in Papua New Guinea.

The Livestock Development Corporation (LDC) is committed to bolstering national food security and fostering economic prosperity through sustainable livestock development.

A critical element of this commitment is the progressive replacement of meat imports with domestically produced high-quality alternatives at our abattoirs when they come into full operations after our ongoing renovation exercises. This strategy not only strengthens our nation’s resilience against global market fluctuations but also unlocks significant opportunities for job creation and economic empowerment within our communities.

Specifically, the LDC prioritizes empowering smallholder livestock producers. By providing access to improved breeds, modern farming techniques, and crucial financial resources, we are equipping these vital contributors with the tools they need to thrive. Increased domestic meat production translates directly into more jobs in rural areas, particularly for young people and women. Further, it allows smallholders to achieve greater financial independence and contribute significantly to the national economy.

The LDC is actively forging partnerships with research institutions, private sector players, and farmer organizations to ensure a collaborative and holistic approach. We are confident that through concerted efforts, we can significantly reduce our reliance on meat imports, create sustainable livelihoods, and empower the next generation of livestock farmers. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous, and food-secure nation.

Thank you, and I declare the Livestock Development Corporation website officially launched!”
