Urimo 21 000 hectares Livestock Farmland, located in the Sepik region of Papua New Guinea, has a notable history tied to the development of livestock farming in the area. Established during a period when the government and private sectors began investing in agriculture and livestock to boost the local economy, Urimo Farm was poised to enhance protein production and provide a source of income for the Country and the Governments.
Currently run down and appears never existent, the farm had primarily been focused on breeding cattle, particularly for beef, and it had contributed to both food security and local employment. Over the years, Urimo Livestock Farm has faced various challenges, including fluctuating market conditions, climate impacts, and evolving agricultural practices. However, it remains an essential part of the LDC story and awaits LDC re-entry into reviving again.
