The Wariman Livestock Station in Wewak, along West-Coast road in East Sepik Province has been one of the focal points of LDC’s efforts to revive Papua New Guinea’s livestock industry. Since the signing of the first MoU in February 2021, the site has been undergoing strategic transformation aimed at restoring its role as a major livestock hub in the greater Sepik region.
It was originally established decades ago but ceased operations in the early 1990s due to widespread management and funding challenges that plagued LDC’s national operations. The activities performed in the restoration of Wariman Livestock Station were
- Reclamation
- Perimeter Fencing
- Duplex Staff house construction
- Rehabilitation of Stockyard and fence
- Rehabilitation and restocking cattle
- Re-opening of the Livestock Station
