Wariman Cattle Station Update

Date: 13th February 2025

The Wariman livestock station in Wewak, East Sepik province, continues to undergo positive changes since its official reopening on 19 December 2024. The 68 hectares land, which had been idle for more than 30 years, is slowly being revived to its full potential of a fully fledged livestock station.

The officiating event in December 2024 is somewhat a symbolic shift for Wariman – as showcased by the progress of revitalization being realized.  To date, Wariman station is ‘alive’ as depicted by locals in the nearby Mengar community.

This comes after witnessing live cattle now being herded with revamped/ newly structured holding pens as well as stock-yard and / or realizing the growing possibility of job opportunities, as the station takes form. Whilst at its initial stages of progress yet, Wariman station now boasts of a newly structured institutional lodging for staff that consists of quality architectural design similar to top-notch residential homes in the nation’s capital.

The decision to build a high-end infrastructure to house staff is driven by the objective of investing in human resources.
This investment is paying off as commitment and hard work are being illustrated daily as progressive works are forthcoming.

To date, Wariman station has undergone,

1. Ongoing revitalization / excavation works.
2. Debris removal and logs for paddock setup and pasture improvement.
3. Complete welding of stockyard that was partially tagged weld.

4. Construction of additional holding pen for cattle.

There is still much progress to be made, however here is what we have
