Minister for Livestock - Hon. Segie Agisa, MP Member of South Fly

Foreword

Honorable guests, esteemed colleagues, and fellow Papua New Guineans;

Today, we gather to mark a significant milestone in the history of the Livestock Development Corporation – the launch of our website. This platform will serve as a gateway to information, knowledge, and opportunities in the livestock sector, showcasing our efforts to promote sustainable livestock practices, improve breed quality, and enhance market opportunities.

The Livestock Development Corporation has been instrumental in driving progress in our livestock industry, contributing to food security, economic growth, and rural development. We’ve made notable strides in rebuilding our cattle industry, with plans to reclaim and develop state-owned lands for cattle ranching. Our goal is to increase our national herd to 1 million cattle within 15 years through modern breeding programs and improved genetics.

This website will not only provide valuable resources and information to farmers, stakeholders, and the public but also serve as a tool for us to engage with our audience, share success stories, and promote our industry. I encourage all stakeholders to utilize this platform to its full potential.

I’d like to commend the efforts of the Livestock Development Corporation team, led by Managing Director Terry Koim, for their tireless work in promoting our livestock industry. I also appreciate the support of our Prime Minister, James Marape, in spearheading initiatives to foster a conducive socio-economic environment for businesses in Papua New Guinea.

As we move forward, we must prioritize sustainable practices, disease management, and market development to ensure the long-term growth of our livestock sector. With determination and collaboration, we can unlock the full potential of our livestock industry and contribute to Papua New Guinea’s economic growth and food security.

Thank you, and I declare the Livestock Development Corporation website officially launched.
